The school operates a well-equipped sick bay managed by trained and experienced health personnel. The department provides first aid, initial assessment and treatment of common illnesses, basic healthcare services, health guidance, emergency response, and appropriate medical referrals when specialized care is required.
Healthcare Services and Medical Supplies
To ensure effective service delivery, the school maintains essential medicines, first-aid supplies, and basic medical equipment. Medical supplies are procured through recognized and reliable medical suppliers, including the Joint Medical Store (JMS) in Jinja.
The department carefully manages its medical supplies to ensure that essential resources are available when needed. This enables the health team to respond promptly to common illnesses, minor injuries, and other health concerns affecting learners and staff.
Disease Prevention and Health Promotion
Preventive healthcare is a key priority of the Department of Health. In addition to treating common illnesses, the department works closely with the school administration to maintain a clean and healthy school environment.
Preventive measures include maintaining high standards of sanitation, promoting personal hygiene, controlling mosquito breeding areas, carrying out appropriate insect and pest control measures, and ensuring access to safe drinking water. Water purification measures are also used to help reduce the risk of waterborne diseases.

Emergency Response and Medical Referrals

In emergency situations, the school facilitates transportation to an appropriate healthcare facility to ensure that the affected learner or staff member receives timely medical attention.
Parents and guardians are involved in important healthcare decisions concerning their children, particularly where further examination, specialized treatment, or continued medical management is required.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to provide accurate and up-to-date medical information about their children. Learners with chronic illnesses, recurring health conditions, allergies, or ongoing medication requirements should report to school with the necessary medical documentation and clear instructions from qualified healthcare professionals.
Maintaining accurate health records enables the school medical team to provide safer, faster, and more appropriate care when a learner requires medical attention.
