Student Code of Conduct
Building Responsible Leaders
At Jinja Progressive Secondary School (JIPRA), discipline is the foundation of excellence. We are committed to nurturing responsible, respectful, and self-driven learners who demonstrate integrity both within and beyond the school community. Every student is expected to uphold the school’s values and contribute positively to a safe, inclusive, and academically focused environment.
Our Expectations
Every JIPRA student is expected to:
- Respect teachers, staff, prefects, fellow students, and visitors.
- Attend all lessons, assemblies, examinations, and school activities punctually.
- Wear the prescribed school uniform neatly and maintain good personal hygiene.
- Speak English as the official language of communication while at school.
- Complete assignments, coursework, and examinations honestly.
- Care for school property and respect the belongings of others.
- Observe all classroom, library, laboratory, dining hall, and dormitory regulations.
- Participate actively in sports, clubs, leadership programmes, and co-curricular activities.
- Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, courtesy, and self-discipline at all times.
- Represent the school with pride both on and off campus.

- Be punctual and prepared for learning.
- Work hard to achieve academic excellence.
- Take responsibility for personal actions.
- Maintain a clean and healthy school environment.
- Develop leadership skills through service and participation.
- Uphold the good name and reputation of JIPRA.
3. Discipline Policy
The school’s disciplinary process is designed to guide, correct, and support students in making responsible choices. Depending on the nature and seriousness of an offence, disciplinary action may include:
- Verbal or written warning.
- Written notification to parents or guardians.
- Temporary suspension.
- Indefinite suspension or dismissal for serious or repeated misconduct.
Parents and guardians are informed whenever significant disciplinary action is taken and are encouraged to work closely with the school in supporting student development.

As a student of Jinja Progressive Secondary School, I commit myself to:
- Upholding the school’s values and traditions.
- Respecting school rules and regulations.
- Treating everyone with dignity and courtesy.
- Working diligently towards academic excellence.
- Protecting school property and maintaining a clean environment.
- Being a responsible ambassador of JIPRA at all times.
2. Prohibited Conduct
To ensure a safe and productive learning environment, students must not engage in:
- Bullying, fighting, intimidation, or any form of violence.
- Theft, vandalism, or destruction of school or personal property.
- Examination malpractice or academic dishonesty.
- Truancy, skipping lessons, assemblies, prep, or school activities.
- Possession or use of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, or other intoxicating substances.
- Possession of mobile phones or other prohibited electronic devices without authorization.
- Gambling or conducting unauthorized business within the school.
- Use of abusive, vulgar, or offensive language.
- Disrespect towards teachers, staff, prefects, or fellow students.
- Entering restricted areas without permission.
- Any behaviour that damages the image, reputation, or values of the school.
